2017 AD 100 Top Interior Designers: Michael S. Smith Inc.

Hello, dear readers! For the Fifth time, Michael S. Smith has been named one of the 2017 AD 100 Top interior designers. Being one of the most original and respected talents in the design industry today, he couldn’t miss this Architectural Digest list.

Michael was born in California and studied interior design at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, his firm opened in 1990 and expanded from projects solely for private clients to his Jasper line of fine furniture and fabrics. Take a look at these projects tat we are sure you will love!

The most import thing to Michael when he starts a project is the history of the house and the personality of the people living there also.

Smith’s style is a seamless blend of European classicism and American modernism—being the most important goal simply to evolve and continually hone his craft, like any great artist or designer.

In Michael Smith’s words, “What’s your point of reference, and how do you make that work?… I have a lot of different stuff that I love, much of it modern but some of it not, and I put it in my house in a way that had it all co-exist and live really comfortably.”
