Eric Cohler was approached by Related Companies to design an additional model residence in Zaha Hadid’s 520 West 28th located in West Chelsea. Interior designer Eric Cohler honours Zaha Hadid’s vision in the latest residence model release while adding a signature style through the use of colour, art, textiles, and luxurious furnishings.
Each section of the living space maintains an individual identity created by grouping selections of patterns, furniture forms and colour palettes together while embracing the fabric of the building defined by Zaha Hadid‘s structural curvature in the ceiling, windows and walls.

A central feature to the interior is the high gloss, curved floor to ceiling unit that divides the kitchen and breakfast bar from the main living and dining areas. On one side, a beautiful custom made seating arrangement, upholstered in a mesmerising white and blue fabric embraces the curvature of the unit. On the other, integrated storage, the oven and other kitchen utilities can be seen.
Emphasising clean lines and smooth surfaces, the kitchen encircles a central breakfast bar and preparation island, cut to a defining angular form synonymous with Zaha Hadid designs.
White high-gloss surfaces have been paired with matte finishes to create a beautiful play of light, transforming the interior through the evolution of the day. Chrome fixtures and fittings absorb the small injections of colour from the kitchen’s surroundings, including decorative artwork and upholstery fabric.
The bedroom and washrooms make the most of natural light with large floor to ceiling windows that encompass the exterior of the building. Subtle blue hues have been used to colour the interior of the bedroom on the walls and within select accessories within the space, including a beautiful rug design, fabrics and glassware.

Large slabs of white marble adorn the walls and floors, contrasting with jet black fixtures that add depth to the interior. An impressive free-standing bath draws in the attention, providing views of New York and the surrounding area.
Eric Cohler‘s show flat at 520 West 28th goes further than many other interior designs. The eclectic style elegantly works in unison with Zaha Hadid‘s instantly recognisable building, defining and decorating the interior spaces but not overshadowing the fabric of the building itself.
